The Community of Municipalities of the Valleys of Thones (CCVT) is committed to an environmental transition trajectory. To reconcile tourism development, soft mobility and the preservation of mountain environments, she wanted reliable data on the use of trails and natural areas.
Since 2023, the CCVT has equipped itself with 14 Verdilo pedestrian traffic counters installed gradually (6 then 4 then 4). The device includes: A purchase with a full warranty over 1 or 5 years: hardware, batteries, maintenance, connectivity. Monitoring of pedestrian traffic on developed paths. A possibility of seasonal adaptation: some sensors are moved in winter to monitor the practice of snowshoeing.
The data from the sensors allows the CCVT to:
Attendance monitoring allows us to improve facilities and to assess the impact of new practices.
The community is preparing for the future:
It works well. We even reused some sensors in winter on snowshoe trails.
Between 8 and 10. We are satisfied. The theft of a meter cooled us a bit, but that does not call into question the quality of the tool.
Following this incident, the community is considering“hollowed-out pole” option proposed by Kiomda, to make devices more secure in certain sensitive areas (for example during hunting season).
