Spirilo counts cyclists, e-scooters, and vehicles using inductive loops embedded in the road. The control unit, housed in an underground manhole, remains invisible and protected. Detection is based on measuring the inductance of diamond-shaped loops embedded in the road, ensuring complete anonymity: no images, no personal data.
Each user crosses the loops one by one over time; even during group or side-by-side crossings, no vehicle masks another, ensuring 95% accuracy.
Designed to interface with existing diamond-shaped loops, it can be installed on both new loops and pre-existing infrastructure without needing a complete overhaul.
The loops are embedded in the road surface and the housing sits in an underground manhole covered with soil: there is no surface furniture, nothing to be seen, hit, or vandalized.
The Spirilo distinguishes between up to four mobility classes—bicycles, scooters, vehicles, and other devices—based on their magnetic signature, and determines the direction of travel.
A narrow groove about one centimeter wide is all that is needed to embed the loops, which are then sealed with a SIREDO-compliant cold resin that allows for immediate traffic reopening.
It pairs with a Verdilo counter to combine pedestrian and bicycle data on a single site, and connects to a display totem—creating a complete, customizable solution.
