compter frequentation

A decision support tool for bicycle development

The main objective of the count is to analyze the use of the greenway and to guide future planning and investment decisions.

“We have created a green path that we are in the process of developing. The aim is to create a link with the V738 greenway which will connect the V91 (which goes from Bordeaux-Sarlat to Brive). For now, we are offering a temporary itinerary.”

The data collected makes it possible to evaluate attendance according to the seasons and the types of users. In particular, they help to measure the share of soft mobility for utility purposes (trips between home and work) in relation to tourist flows.

“We look at the statistics and we get feedback on attendance, tourism, and investment policies. For example, we are looking to see if there is soft mobility to go to work.”

A structuring project for mobility and tourism

Initial observations show that attendance increases sharply during sunny days, with predominant use for tourist and leisure activities.

“We can see that it works well. It's not just for tourists, but in terms of tourist communication, that's where it's used the most at the moment.”

The route also has great potential thanks to its accessible terrain, making it particularly suitable for families and casual cyclists.

Contexte
Committed to the energy transition and the development of soft mobility, the Community of Municipalities of the Valley of Man is carrying out an ambitious VéloRoute Voie Verte project connecting Limeuil to Aubas over 60 km. This itinerary is part of a national plan, in connection with: La Flow Vélo, which connects the Island of Aix to Sarlat-La-Canéda. The V91, running along the Dordogne valley to the Gironde and the Lot. A first section of 23 km, La Vézère à Vélo, already connects Les Eyzies, Le Bugue, Limeuil and Saint-Chamassy, offering a privileged route for cyclists and pedestrians wishing to discover the natural and historical heritage of Périgord Noir.
Prestation
Kiomda supplied and maintains four pedestrian/bicycle counting boxes, installed at strategic points in Bugue, Les Eyzies and Limeuil. A traveling box also makes it possible to carry out occasional follow-ups on various sites. The boxes, protected against vandalism, collect bidirectional data by distinguishing pedestrians and cyclists. This data, transmitted twice a day on the Kiomda Reports interface, makes it possible to precisely analyze the frequentation and uses of the greenway.
